To ensure compliance with the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission (PREC) regulations, real estate teams must adhere to the following guidelines:
1. Team Name Requirements:
The team name must include the licensed name or Commission-registered nickname of a licensee on the team.
The team name must not be a fictitious name.
2. Advertising Requirements:
All advertisements (excluding business cards) must list all team members using their licensed names or Commission-registered nicknames.
Unlicensed individuals, including office staff, must not be listed or depicted as team members in any advertisements.
All team members must be affiliated with the same real estate company.
3. Broker Information:
Every advertisement must prominently display the business name and telephone number of the employing broker.
The broker's name and phone number must be at least equal in size to the team name and contact information on all advertisements.
4. Prohibited Terms in Team Names:
To prevent confusion with licensed brokerages, team names must not include terms such as:
"Realty"
"Real Estate"
"Company"
"Corporation"
"LLC", "Inc.", or other legal entity designators
"Broker" or any variation implying brokerage-level authority
5. General Advertising Standards:
All advertisements must be truthful and not misleading or deceptive in any manner.
For detailed information, refer to the Pennsylvania Real Estate Commission's guidelines on team advertising: Team Advertising Guidelines (PDF)
Please consult your broker for final approval on team names and ensure alignment with the most recent regulatory updates.
